Last week I saw the pictures relating to the refugee crisis.
Not just the awful pictures of Aylan Kurdi, but of a mother in the water holding her baby. Of people crammed into boats. The horrifying lengths that people are having to go to to find safety for their families.
My Reactions? As a human being and a Mother, just the same as yours probably.
Horror, helplessness, shock, frustration... though none of them come close to saying enough.
Where words fail, actions as we know speak louder. Better still when the two join forces.
In the hours that followed, a song appeared. I'm a songwriter, it's what I do.
So here it is. I put it on Bandcamp.
If you buy it, everything (bar the bit Bandcamp takes) is going to MOAS, the Migrant Offshore Aid Station. An extraordinary operation that is saving the lives of refugees and migrants at sea on a daily basis. Check them out here: www.moas.eu
You can have it for £1. Or you can pay more. Pay whatever you want and I promise to keep all my social media up to date with what the track has earned on a regular basis.
I figure if it helps just one family then the song has earned its place in the world.
I hope you like it, and I hope even more that between us we can throw some constructive help and positivity into these desperate stories.
Recorded, played and mixed at home on GarageBand by Thea.
